Executive College holds 13th graduation ceremony for diploma student
7 December 2019, KUCHING: Executive College (EC) recently held its 13th graduation ceremony for students of Diploma in Quantity Surveying and Diploma in Business Administration. The occasion was made memorable with the presence of iCube Innovation founder and chairman Dato Patrick Liew as well as Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) Sarawak deputy chairman Paul Tiong. Diploma in Business Administration graduate Melissa Toh received Datuk Robert Lau Hoi Chew Award for Academic Excellence while her coursemate Tan Wee Pei Wun received Outstanding Academic Award. Donson Foo and Su Siang Ming from Diploma in Quantity Surveying received RISM Academic Award for scoring the highest average marks in Building Quantities I, II, III and CE Construction & Quantities II respectively. Meanwhile, the college’s undergraduates received their Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) and Bachelor of Technology (Hons) in Construction Management from partner university, Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL) in Kajang, Selangor. EC’s chief executive officer Sheila Sie urged the graduates to pursue lifelong learning to remain relevant and competitive as the global economy and industries undergo rapid advancement of technology, reshaping the nature of existing jobs. “Take up short courses, online learning, improve your communication skills, emotional and social intelligence and cultivate lifelong learning in your daily routine beyond college and work,” she advised. Georgina Poh, a retiree who graduated with Diploma in Quantity Surveying was a prime example of a lifelong learner. A majority of the college’s graduates are employed by KTS Group of Companies or secured jobs at other companies including in Singapore. Many Foundation in Arts and diploma graduates are pursuing degrees at Executive College or partner universities such as University College of Technology Sarawak, Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur, Taylor’s University and Heriot-Wa University Malaysia campus.
