Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) Workshop

14 November 2017, KUCHING: Engineering & Technology Department has conducted a Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) Workshop on 3rd November 2017, Friday at Executive College. SPSS is a powerful computer program widely used in the academic community for doing advanced statistical analysis of data for research and other projects. The workshop was attended by 16 students enrolled in Thesis II course in Bachelor of Technology (Hons) in Construction Management (BTCM).

The objective of the workshop is to train students on the usage of the basic functions of SPSS for processing statistical data for their research and to equip them with the skills to analyse quantitative data.

Students were taught to run a pilot test, frequency analysis and descriptive statistics in order to obtain measure central tendency (mean, mode and median) and measure of dispersion (standard deviation) results. Also, students were taught on how to interpret the results from the output viewer window.

In conclusion, students have learned the skills on running the basic functions of SPSS software for processing statistical data, which was useful for their Thesis II report writing especially Chapter 4: Results Analysis.
