Site Visit Gives EC Students Valuable Industry Insight

11 July 2017, KUCHING: Quantity surveying students and lecturers from Executive College (EC) recently visited the site for a proposed chapel at Bintawa Fishing Village.

According to a press statement from the college, the educational visit was organised for students to gain exposure on the construction of superstructure works and to have a better understanding of construction techniques applied in the industry.

It was a great opportunity for students to study the early stages of construction as the project is approximately 30 per cent completed.

They were able to carry out a site assessment on the current progress of work done, which helps to determine the certified value of work done for an interim payment certificate used in construction contracts.

At the end of the site visit, students expressed their appreciation to the construction company’s representatives led by the site’s project manager Aliff Shah.

The students also said that the educational trip was indeed useful to assist them to understand better the construction techniques they have learnt in the classroom.

EC offers a three-year Diploma in Quantity Surveying programme and has achieved professional recognition status with Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM), Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) and Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Other programmes available at the college include Foundation in Arts, Diploma in Business Administration and degree programmes in collaboration with Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL), namely Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) and Bachelor of Technology (Hons) in Construction Management.

EC offers 100 per cent ‘Job Priority’ for their graduates upon completion of studies where graduates applying for job opportunities in KTS Group will have their application prioritised.

Its campus is located on the Second Floor, Crown Square, 88 Jalan Pending, 93450 Kuching.
